Backyard
Aaron did some yard work yesterday while Emily supervised. He's getting ready for his vole hunting season. It looks like our shrubs and trees survived this winter from them, but our grass is a wreck. As Aaron made piles of dead grass, Emily would run right through them with a big smile on her face.
She wasn't the only one who enjoyed the last bit of sunshine of the day.

Fresh Air
The day was nice enough on Saturday to get outside. We met some friends for a playdate and then went to the park. Then we spent some time with the dogs outside.
I'm counting this as Emily's balance work for her therapy homework.
Can't wait until the hat and coat aren't needed!

Emily had the stomach flu for three days this week. Yeah, that was fun.
So, in case you're keeping track, in the last 8 weeks we've had RSV, double ear infections, croup, and the flu. Summer, where are you?But we're back. And Emily has a new favorite song.
If you're happy and you know it
clap your hands...
stomp your feet...
shout hooray!
Sorry about the late afternoon shadows, but if you can see through it and notice her expressions, she's back to happy.

Monkey Bizness
Achoo!
Emily has been saying "Achoo!" since she was hospitalized with RSV. But her new thing is blowing her nose, all by herself, and then throwing her tissues away. Here she is, in the middle of coloring, and since she couldn't get down off her chair, her crayon bucket made an excellent trash can.

Update...
So, Aaron took the morning shift, I took the after lunch shift staying home with Squishy. Clear, runny nose is still there, hacking cough still there, but the terrible wheezing seemed to be calmed by last night's medication. We've sat in the hot, steamy bathroom. She took a vapor steam bath. We played outside in the crisp air. What else does a sick tot do?

gets everything just right...

naps.
A New Bad Word -croup
Gee, can you guess where we spent two hours last night?
White bedding, toe probe, glowing monitors in the background, sick tot?
Emily has had a clear, runny nose for two days or so. But last night after she went to bed, around 10, she started coughing. And after listening to her, it was much than just a cough, but wheezing and a hoarse cry. Croup is a new vocabulary word for me, but wheezing isn't and since one of her breathing treatments did nothing to soothe her, it was decided to take her to the local ER. And if you know me, I'm not a supporter of my local hospital, at all, so that tells you I was a little nervous about the situation.
Just a bad episode of the croup. She got a different nebulizer medication and a steroid injection, was monitored for an hour and we were sent home. The steroid had her wired, so Aaron entertained her by blowing up gloves into balloons. She was thrilled there were "Boons!"
After that, it was an uneventful night. She fell asleep quickly once we were home, just after midnight. She's not awake yet to give the morning report. But, I guess croup is just a one episode at a time sort of thing...
