Thanksgiving was a quiet day, morning and evening spent with friends, with a traditional meal cooked for the family in between.  Friday was the first real snowfall of the season.  Emily tried out her new skis for the season by making a few runs on the mountain, then came home to play in the snow some more.  

Friday was also the arrival of Elfie and Emily's official start of the Christmas season.

Her Santa list, so far, includes a Fitbit, a TV, and a hammock.  Subject to change 50 times before Christmas gets here.

The school week after the Lion King adventure was a short one with parent teacher conferences being held.  Emily opted to attend a day camp instead of hanging out at home.  Alison, the teacher, spent the day with the girls crafting and exploring the Draper Preserve.

Emily brought home some great paintings and this corn husk doll that she made.  Emily enjoyed the day so much that we decided to enroll her in a five week after school program that happens to meet on Wednesdays, her one free day.  They'll spend the five sessions working on some top secret Christmas projects.  

There's snow in the forecast so we spent a day at the park.  With no school this week, there's also no horseback riding or gymnastics!  So since we are looking for things to do, we have gone swimming at the hotel, saw a couple movies (Grinch and Nutcracker), and started a few Christmas preparations.  

Emily was an Egyptian princess this year for Halloween.  At her class party, she was the mummy for the team competition, which her group won!

 On Friday, we all drove to Boise after school to make an 8:00 performance of The Lion King.  Even though it was after 11 when we walked out of there, and Emily was exhausted, she stayed awake for it and loved the costumes and set.  She was a little confused by the story line, but maybe that's because she hasn't seen the movie!

 We spent the night and made a stop at Circustrix for a couple hours before coming home.
