10... Double Digits!

Emily wanted to spend Wednesday night in a tent in the yard, so we did along with both dogs!  In the morning we stopped by Hank & Sylvie's in town on the way to gym practice to pick up some cupcakes for the team.  It also happened to be her coach's birthday, and sadly the last day for her before moving to Washington.

After 4 hours at practice, we hung out at home.  She got a new Leo and money to spend from Grandpa and Grandma, gift cards, books, and a telescope.

She wanted dinner at Rico's up in Ketchum.

And then finished up the day with having Audrey over for a sleep over.

Emily is in the gym 12 hours a week for the summer schedule.  The other day she decided to get some extra running in as some conditioning.  She ran with Gerda for a mile.

Zippin' Toward 10

For her birthday this year, Emily had a hard time deciding what to do.  She talked about the water park (like last year), but also really wanted to try an Escape Room.  Then finally she settled on zip lining down in Twin Falls.  Her friend Audrey came along.

At the Christmas Classic gym meet, Emily won a raffle prize for a gift certificate for 60 minutes in a flight simulator and a 30 minute scenic flight.  She redeemed it yesterday, and invited friend Audrey to join in the fun.

started off with a tour

flying to Catalina

The girls were small enough to do some midair maneuvering so that they both got equal time in the front seat.  It was a beautiful day for flying with snow on the Pioneer Mountains and a very green valley below.

So Long 4th Grade

Thursday, June 6th, was the last day of school!  The last week of school meant family BBQ day, so the Hughstons actually had school lunch together.

There was also the celebration assembly on the last day of school, complete with the moving up ceremony where the 4th graders were able to move on over to the 5th graders section (which is right next to the second graders).

The first weekend of summer vacation meant a swim trip to the hot springs for Emily with her friend Audrey and a day of shooting with her Dad (with some wild flower picking).

On Thursday I made arrangements for a guest teacher so that I could go on Emily's field trip to Boise with the 4th graders.  I opted not to ride on the yellow school bus, but Emily chose to ride with her classmates.

First stop was the Discovery Center of Idaho.  Here the kids had 45 minutes to explore.

Then it was lunch and playtime at the nearby park before heading to the capitol building.  Emily has a classmate whose mom, Muffy Davis, was elected to the Idaho Legislature last year.  She met us there and gave the kids a VIP tour.

Emily is to the right of her teacher, Mrs. Doub, who is sitting
in the Governor's chair.

Emily is on the left side, with her knees bent and by the water bottle.
