Today was a cold and wet day.  After a morning at open gym and an afternoon visit to the library, Emily shared the one sunny spot on the stair landing with Millie.  And because Millie spent the morning at doggy daycare for the first time, she was too tired to attempt eating the book!

Notice the mark on her right cheek from the rope at gym!

Getting Caught Up

Well, we have finished our fourth week of school and we are into our fall and winter schedule.  On Mondays, Emily is riding from 4-5 at Swiftsure.  She was on the pony Hoppy for her first lesson of this session.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are gym nights, practice goes from 4-7.  And, new to our schedule is Honor Choir at school, which is 7:30 on Wednesday mornings.  Luckily it's normal for us to be at school at that time anyway.

And on the weekends, we manage to fit in some fun.  We tried fishing one more time (still no luck).

And have walked over to the middle school to practice some basketball.

And last weekend we all went to Boise where Emily participated in her second steel challenge match.  Although she isn't official yet (shooting only her pistol and not the required pistol and rifle), she's shown a lot of improvement.

Even the dogs went along for the two night stay in Boise.  Millie settled into a hotel routine nicely.

And while Aaron shot in his competition on Sunday morning,  Emily, the dogs and I went and walked along the Boise greenbelt and ended up at a park on a beautiful sunny day.

Gone Fishing

Emily decided that she wanted to fish on Labor Day, so we headed down to Hayspur which is a family fishing pond just outside a hatchery.  Although she didn't have any luck, she patiently tried for about three hours.  And she also wants to give it another try, so that's on the agenda for tomorrow.

This pup and I encountered a skunk early Thursday morning.  Guess the skunk is back for the pear harvest.  Luckily we weren't sprayed, but it was a surprise for all involved!

1 Week Down

Proud to say that everyone survived the first week of school.  Emily walked to the store for the first four days, but on Friday decided to try the bus which has a stop just across the street from Tamarack Sports.  It was nice to have the week off from gym and horseback riding and just find a routine for getting out the door on time, especially with Millie slowing us down.  Luckily she is successfully potty trained, but she's also a true lab and will try to eat anything and everything!  The trick she learned this week is that she can knock the trash can over.

Saturday morning started off with a private choreography lesson with one of the coach's to come up with this year's floor routine.
She had a two hour time block scheduled, but knew the routine in less than an hour.  And since we had extra time on our hands we were able to head north to Ketchum's annual Wagon Days parade.  I forgot to take pictures of the actual parade!  Oops.  But take my word for it, it was the same wagons, horses, mules, and camels that we've seen in the years past.
