4th Grade

Emily didn't want the traditional chalk sign photo this year.  The cute skirt she has been planning on for weeks stayed in the closet.  She decided it was too cold, and she had PE and a skirt wasn't practical.  I counted it as a win that she even brushed her hair and teeth before her first day of school today!

Mrs. Doub is her teacher.  She's bummed that her best friends are in a different class, and her report after school was that 4th grade is SO boring.  And as a first, she rode the bus home after school.  My how things have changed!

It was the end of the season for the BCRD pool, which meant a doggy pool party.  A great way to celebrate  National Dog Day!

Millie loved it, but Gerda was never brave enough to get in the water!

Then we spent our afternoon placing 287 rubber bands around a watermelon just so we could see it explode!

The week ended with more playdates and a trip to the park, as well as watching a juggling show in Ketchum on Friday night after dinner at the Pio.

Saturday was the Swiftsure Stampede.  And even though this horse show was for the 10 year old and up crowd, Emily was asked by her instructor Natalie to participate.  Emily rode Indy, and although Indy wasn't into moving quickly during barrel racing or pole bending, Emily did well in the English Equitation class and was awarded second place.

The week continues with swim time, play dates, Christopher Robin movie, puzzles, and shooting practice.  Emily is going to attempt her first USPSA match tomorrow night!

One week of summer vacation to go.  Next week I am back to work, and Emily will be at team gymnastics camp all week.  With our trip to California cancelled, we are challenged with coming up with our own local fun.

So, to start the week off right, Emily wanted to "camp" in the yard.  Millie couldn't quite figure out the sides of the tents and kept rolling it over since we didn't stake it, so she ended up in the house with Aaron and Gerda.

There was also a couple play dates to enjoy and time at the pool. Now... if that wildfire smoke would just go away!

Redfish again

On Tuesday Emily and I went back to Redfish lake with the Diedrick and Sauvageau ladies.  The 7 girls had a great time playing in the sand, swimming in the lake, and renting the paddle boards.

It's the final stretch of summer vacation, and we are going to do our best to enjoy every moment of it.  The weather has been perfect, the smoke from the wildfire has disappeared, and Emily and I spent the afternoon at the pool with our neighbors yesterday.
