Home Sweet Home

Aaron and I got back home on Monday... and it's been a crazy week.  The post surgery care is a little more time consuming and involved than we had anticipated (well, me at least!).  And the joy of having the home health care nurse help out was short lived because his advice doubled the work for me us!

My camera has been neglected, but I promise you Emily has not been.  Grandma is still here to help with the entertainment department and to lend that extra hand so that the house doesn't become condemned due to lack of care.

Most of Emily's time is filled up with board games and puzzles, luckily that's something she loves to do.

We did manage to get Emily to the ice rink at the rodeo grounds today so she could show off her skills to Grandma, but to our surprise there were large puddles of water and mushy spots all over the rink.  We've spent so much time indoors lately, we didn't realize how warm it was outdoors!

Missing My Lil Valentine

Emily playing at school.

It sure doesn't feel right being away from Emily on a holiday, especially a fun, light hearted one like today.  While we are still away as Aaron recovers from surgery, Emily has been spoiled by Grandma.  It sure does help that we are able to Face Time throughout the day and see her face as we talk to her.  Initially those conversations brought on a lot of tears, but the last few talks she's been happier and loved sharing her Valentine's from school, special surprises from Grandma, and other goodies she's received.

I sure do miss my little Valentine!

Back to the Blog

Forgive me for neglecting the blog.  Emily and I each battled the stomach bug, and just so Aaron didn't feel left out, he had two visits to his own doctor and one trip to the ER for chest x-rays.  Antibiotics and some strong cough syrup later, he's better just in time for his surgery tomorrow.  Everyone keep your fingers crossed that all goes well.

So, Grandma had to come to the rescue and is staying with Emily while we are away... and with her arrival also came the first good snowfall of the season.  We spent Grandma's first morning here sledding on the berm outside our door.  I'm sure Grandma has some fun things planned to keep her well entertained this week.  She was one sad little girl when we said our goodbyes this morning, her teacher let me know that she was just fine today at school, but it was tears again over the phone tonight.  Poor thing, being away isn't fun for any of us!
