Creating

Today was cold and windy.  Emily said, "I want to walk."  We got all bundled up, got the dog ready, grabbed the stroller for back up, and made it as far as the end of the block.

So, we got out the play doh out instead.

Earlier this week it was all about finger painting.

Emily also made it to open gym at the gymnastics place twice in the past week.  At first she was hesitant, but then had a great time jumping on trampolines, running around on the mats, attempting the balance beams, and holding onto the rope.  She also got her hair trimmed again last weekend.  Yes, she remembered the deal of get a haircut, get a treat.  But this time we went out to lunch together instead.  She also went to the reading night at school where I work.  She listened to stories, made bookmarks, and watched the kids interact. She seemed to have a great time!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from Emily!

Notice that face?  Does it look like I gave her lemons?  That's Emily's new smile...

Emily picked out a blue outfit to wear today.  I wanted her to wear her heart shirt.  We negotiated.  I told her she could have her Valentine present before school if she put the shirt on I had picked out.  She pondered.  "Is it cute?" she asked, referring to her present.  I told her I thought so (it was the butterfly backpack in the picture filled with books.  "If it not cute, I take it off!" she stated, then went downstairs to collect her gift.

Idaho Aquarium

Today we visited the aquarium that just recently opened in Boise.

Emily thought it was fabulous.  You could feed and pet most of the exhibits, but you had to read the signs because some of the fish bite (I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but scary to a toddler to have a swarm of fish nibbling fingers perhaps?).  Emily fed the fish in the tank some seaweed, and they were like hungry koi fighting over it!  Her arms were too short to touch most of the things in the tide pools, so she just stuck her hands in the water and splashed.

Sledding

Last Sunday we spent some time sledding next to the house.  Emily loved it!

I'm not surprised that she has started taking her naps on the couch!  Most weekends, I'm lucky if I can even get her to take a nap!  Is the era of the nap coming to an end already?
This past week Emily has chosen to sleep on the futon in her room and not her toddler bed.  Which is fine with me because she's sleeping better, and longer, and sometimes even through the entire night!  A lot of the time when she awakes, all she wants is me to cover her with her blankets, or a lost lovey, and then other times she wants to have a conversation...
