Trail Ride

With the threat of no riding lessons until spring because of the snow, Meghan took Emily and Bella out on a trail ride.  Emily's highlight was cantering up the hillside.

Emily on Tulli and Meghan on Georgia went for a gorgeous sunset trail ride this week.

Let the Games Begin

Gymnastics competition season has officially started.  The first meet is just an opportunity for the judges to give the girls a critique of the new routines.  Emily was off to a strong start and has already qualified for state.

Riding on Wednesday did not go as expected.  Smoky must not have been in the mood for a lesson, and bit Emily hard on her upper arm.

After the bite, Emily was quick to abandon Smoky and opted for the new horse that just joined the herd instead.

Tulli was a hit and the the current new favorite!  I guess one of the bonuses of not owning your own horse is that ability to trade horses when one makes you mad!

Halloween

Emily was Wednesday Addams this year.  It was the first year that she didn't rely on us to take her trick or treating. A few friends were dropped off at our house, and they were off!  They returned a couple hours laters with bags fulls of candy.

She was also independent in her pumpkin carving.

Tubb's Pumpkin Patch

We once again visited Tubb's Pumpkin Patch this weekend.

Bumped into friend, Ginger, on the slide.

2 Months Flew By...

School started and it has been busy.  Emily is once again on the gymnastics team in Twin Falls, but the girl we carpooled with is not, so Aaron and I are sharing the responsibility of making the journey three times a week.  There were also shooting competitions.  Aaron and Emily went to the Utah and Idaho State match, among others, where Emily won her division at both.  Then there's the issue of a continuing pandemic, and I got Covid so we all had to quarantine for 10 days.  Emily was very independent in contacting all of her teachers, keeping up with her school work, and so far has all As except for one B as we end the first quarter.

The calmest night of the week is when Emily goes riding, where our commute is short and the setting at Kraay's Market is relaxing (as long as the weather is nice).

The rooster made it an obstacle course!

No hands!

While I was in Iowa City for a few days, Emily was entertained with trips to go rock climbing at Climb Iowa and to the trampoline park.  We spent a lot of time visiting family.  There was also time to play croquet, checkers, and cribbage. It was so great to get back to Iowa again!
