We spent Friday night at Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls. There was a laser light show that we wanted to see. We arrived around 8 and took a shuttle bus down into the canyon. There was enough time to grab some food and roll down the hill as we waited for dark and the show to start. I didn't get any quality photos of the laser show, but it was pretty entertaining. Then it was a shuttle ride back to the car and we arrived home around 12:30 A.M. For the first time in forever, Emily slept in. However, she was still up and ready to go for open gym this morning!

Mud Run
On Saturday, Emily participated in Hailey's annual mud run. When we first talked about it, the weather was 80 degrees and sunny. However, yesterday was rainy and 45. She ran it with her friend Tobie that she knew from skiing this past winter. They had a great time, there were lots of giggles and not as much mud as you would think. That's because they realized after the practice lap that the mud was two feet thick in the center, and not so deep at the edge. Emily even earned a second place medal!

Our morning was spent at the annual track meet. For the elementary kids in the valley, track is a popular spring sport. The only practice twice a week for three weeks, and then all the elementary kids gather at the track down in Carey on the first Saturday in May. This year Emily participated in the long jump, the 50m dash, and the 100 dash. All first and second graders get ribbons for all their events, but starting in third grade they keep track of times and give out ribbons to the fastest times of all the heats. Emily didn't place in anything, but it didn't matter to her that she didn't receive a ribbon. She likes seeing her friends from other schools that she knows through skiing and gymnastics. And, like she told me in the car on the way home, she was disappointed but track is really just conditioning for gym.
Speaking of gym, she had a private lesson on Friday before her regular practice time. She's had a bit of a mental block on getting to high bar - of all things. She told me she has mastered it now, but I haven't seen it. So fingers crossed the private lesson did the trick and we can move on!
