Spring Break Staycation

With our trip to Park City at the end of February, we agreed to stick around for spring break.  Emily is  participating in a rock climbing camp at the YMCA that runs from 9-11 each morning.  Without our normal schedule of riding lessons and gymnastics practice, this was a perfect thing to keep our active girl active.

Monday afternoon she dyed her Easter eggs.

Tuesday she chose to go to the movie Sherlock Gnomes after climbing.  Wednesday's choice was skiing.  It was the first time I've skied all season, and the mountain closes Sunday!

Idaho State Xcel Meet

Today was the grand finale to the 2017-2018 gymnastics season - the state meet.  Emily started complaining about a sore throat on Thursday and by today it was a full blown cold.  We were all a little worried about how the day would go.

The team started out on floor.  Emily took third with her 9.075.

Vault was a bit tough.  She took fifth with an 8.9
Emily practicing vault.

The third event today was uneven bars.  Emily's 9.4 was enough to get second place.

And she saved the best for last today!  Emily was first place on beam with a 9.450.

Her combined score meant first place in all around for her age group in the silver junior division!  What a fabulous way to end the season!

Easter EGGstravaganza

Saturday was the annual Easter egg hunt at Zoo Boise.  Emily had a great time collecting eggs and playing even though it was a chilly day.

Red Carpet Classic Meet

One meet closer to the end of the season!  Ssturday's meet was hosted by Danik in Meridian.

The first event of the evening was uneven bars.  Emily's score of a 9.30 meant 5th place.

Next was beam.  Her 9.65 was enough to get second.

Floor was next.  The coach told them to bring their A game before this event because the judge was hard.  Now Emily knows what it means to bring the A game, because a 9.15 meant third place.

But vault was where judging was really tough.  Emily didn't place on vault with her 8.55 score, but first place was a 9.05 - and that never happens at meets this late in the season.

However, even with low scores for Emily, she still pulled off a second in all around.  Which means that the judges were equally tough on everyone.  Not sure that's a good thing?

Boise State Gymnastics Open

Another weekend, another meet.

This one was held on the Boise State campus, and it was a fabulous one for Emily.

Emily is third from the right, laughing with teammate and friend, Ashley.
Floor was the first event.  Emily placed second with a 9.5.

The next event was vault.  It was a first place finish with a 9.45.

Then it was over to bars.  She had a rough start to her routine, but still managed a fourth place with a 9.35.

Beam was last.  Emily's 9.45 score was a 2nd place finish.

The goody bag was a BSU gymnastics bag with an autographed
poster of the BSU team.
