Tomorrow school starts, and Emily cannot wait to walk into Mrs. Sauvageau's first grade classroom. Friday she went to meet the teacher day, and she happily picked out a locker and a desk, in the back, but close to the teacher's desk.
Yesterday she carefully packed her school supplies in her new backpack, making sure it was arranged just right. Although sad that our summer is over, she's excited to see her friends again and is curious about the names on the door she does not know.
At a recent doctor's visit, she was 47 " tall and 49 lbs. She's in a size 13 shoe and most of her clothes now are a 7. She still loves turquoise, and when I asked her what she wanted to be this morning she told me that she wanted to be a vet and an ambulance driver.

Still not one for a need of sleep, she's up before 7 everyday and watches the clock intently so that as soon as the hour hits seven, I hear, "Mom, the clock says 7!" Usually followed by, "What are we going to do today?" because playing solo isn't her favorite thing either. Our lazy summer mornings usually started with taking Gerda along with us on a bike ride, followed by hanging out in the yard, before we took off for whatever outing we had decided on that day. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun hanging out with her this summer. She's also very much a Daddy's girl, and she loves to be at the store with Aaron, or on the gun range with him, and that's where she'd be when I had errands she didn't think were fun enough to tag along on.
I can't wait to see how she grows and changes in first grade!
