Princess Classic Gymnastics Meet

Today was Emily's first meet at her home gym.  It started off with her bar routine, and it wasn't a good start.  In fact, she scored last with an 8.0 out of 10.  Unfortunately, this caused Emily to break down in tears for a moment.  But her team and coaches cheered her on, and she rallied in time to do her beam routine.  She got second for that, and went on to get another second in vault. The highlight was getting first place for her floor routine with a 9.0.  She did so well that she was able to pull off second place over all, only losing to first place by half a point.  Phew.  She was pretty thrilled by the end to bring home a trophy, some ribbons, a new leo, and a bag full of goodies.

Emily even had an extra fan in her cheering section, Jeanne from Swiftsure joined us!  She even brought Emily flowers.

The week started off with Halloween, and Halloween at Hailey Elementary means you start the day with a costume parade in the gym.

Then after school it was straight to downtown Hailey for the traditional Hoopla and trick or treating at the local businesses.  This year our group of friends was up to ten kids, and they moved so quickly, we never did get a group picture!
After the Hoopla is was time to go home for a break, eat some chili and cornbread, throw on an extra layer of clothes (the angel costume wasn't exactly meant for a cool, fall day), and head over to the Foxmoor subdivision for some nighttime trick or treating.  It was an event packed day, but we were still able to get home and in bed by 8:30.  Not too bad!

The week ended up with meeting our friend Brooke at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts free family day.  There was a focus on the senses, so the girls made sculptures out of clay while blindfolded, had to draw pictures based on reading lips, and the last station was painting without hands.
It was a beautiful afternoon, so we ended the day at the park afterward.

The week ahead is an exciting one for Emily.  She'll go to horseback riding on Monday and gymnastics practice on Tuesday and Thursday, but it's her last two before her first competition next Saturday!  She's pretty excited... and a bit nervous already.  Fingers crossed...
